Patient Services

Welcome to PELC, a provider of NHS healthcare.  When your GP surgery is closed, the PELC team provide the Out-of-Hours GP services, from telephone advice to GP consultations at your local medical centre and much more.

PELC is a leading UK provider of GP out of hours and urgent healthcare services and is an approved NHS partner.  PELC delivers cost effective patient and community focused care to patients and members entirely for the benefit of the community.  Commissioners choose PELC because of our ability to provide integrated GP lead care, value for money and seamless service, ensuring the highest of clinical standards and patient care.  We constantly work closely with Commissioners to develop new partnership and innovative models of integrated care, creating a dynamic partnership for the benefit of the communities we serve.

Over 250 local GPs form the foundation of the team at PELC and as part of our commitment to Continuous Professional Development we are also a provider of vocational training for GP Registrars.

PELC use the latest technology solutions to ensure that patient care is fully integrated; in 2010 our telephony and IT systems were upgraded to the latest MITEL VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) system with touch-screen handsets enhancing our call management capacity.  Our team use the National Summary Care Record to ensure seamless patient care and instantaneous updates to patient’s records following a call to the PELC team.  In our survey of patients’ experience of PELC services, four out of five of those responding felt that the service they received from the PELC team was excellent or good.

The Partnership of East London Co-operatives (PELC) Ltd is a certified social enterprise with the Social Enterprise Mark.  This means that PELC has proved it is genuine against independently-assessed criteria for social enterprise. The Mark provides assurance that surpluses are used to improve the lives of the people in the local communities we serve; it acts as a guarantee that PELC’s surpluses are used to help people, rather than pay dividends to shareholders.

Working with PELC means that more people in East London and Essex get the healthcare they need.
